The end of last year was a strange situation because I had just lost my job and I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do, says Frans Spijkers owner of TECCURO B.V. As with so many other companies in this COVID period, the services of Frans were, after almost 13 years of service, no longer required. His knowledge and experience in the field of pipelines led him to decide to start for himself. In my life I have worked in various positions. Taking this step was therefore the logical consequence for me. Registering in the Chamber of Commerce was step one, step two was to take care of assignments and set up the company.

A dream start for every entrepreneur, says Frans, who is very grateful that MVOI has expressed this confidence in him. At that time I had nothing, not even a bank account to buy a pen. While Frans, in cooperation with the MVOI project team, made the inventory of the project needs, he also had to ensure that Teccuro’s basic affairs were taken care of. The cooperation in the preparation went well, says Marcel de Groot (Chief construction at MVOI). Both parties have made clear agreements regarding the planning and expectations during the project.

Thursday morning, you have carried out hundreds of projects and yet such a first project on your own is exciting, says Frans. After the preparation was done, the pipeline was filled with water in combination with a Bi-directional (BiDi) pig. The use of a pig minimizes the amount of air in the pipe which is required for a good test result. After the successful hydrostatic strength and tightness test,  the pipe was dewatered and we were able to complete the project within the set parameters. The commitment of the TECCURO team has certainly contributed to the successful completion of this project, says Marcel de Groot.

I have never been afraid that I could not deliver the quality that customers expect of me. However, you can’t control everything and then you have to anticipate on the situation. At those moments it is very useful if you know your way in this pipeline world, says Frans. Now that this project is over, I am working on creating a good foundation that consists of a team with specialized pipeliners and equipment. This way TECCURO will be able to respond independent and flexible on any demands. I am looking back with a very good feeling about starting my own company.
